COSTA MESA, California - March 1, 2000 - IOP, Inc.,
the premier developer and distributor of specialty devices
for surgery, announced today the promotion of Erik Melling
to Director of Sales-U.S. This new appointment is effective
immediately.
Melling, 31, initially teamed up with IOP in 1992 as an independent
surgical representative, and immediately established himself
as a revenue leader, industry expert and spiritual leader.
In October of 1998, Erik joined IOP full-time as the Director
of Sales-Eastern Region. Revenues under his leadership expanded
almost 50% within the delegated territory.
His new position with the company will allow the company
and customers to benefit from Erik's sales and surgical expertise
on a national level. He will be responsible for managing,
hiring and promotion of all sales personnel; establishment
of territorial revenue goals; and the formulation and implementation
of company-wide, revenue-generating incentive plans.
Erik began his career in surgical sales in 1991. He has extensive
experience and expertise in anterior segment ophthalmic surgery,
microsurgery and surgical instrumentation. He graduated in
1991 from George Mason University with a B.S. in Marketing.
