COSTA MESA, California - March 1, 2000 - IOP, Inc., the premier developer and distributor of specialty devices for surgery, announced the introduction of the BioSpacer™ Tutoplast® Sclera for the treatment of lower eyelid retraction. This configuration-addition to the Company's Tutoplast® line is yet another tissue processed specifically for the ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgical market.

Processed human tissues have been used by ophthalmologist for a variety of procedures. In the treatment of lower eyelid retraction, surgeons routinely insert a tissue substrate (like sclera) into the lower eye to provide tectonic support and lift. Tutoplast® represents the gold standard worldwide for human tissue processing.

"Once again, we are trying to respond to the needs of our customers…. the oculoplastic surgeons worldwide," responded Erich Ziegler, Director of New Product Development. "We are extremely proud of our ongoing efforts in providing surgeons with safe and effective tissue grafts for surgery. The market response has been extremely positive."

During the past 30 years, over 750,000 Tutoplast® Processed Allografts have been surgically transplanted without a single documented case of disease transmission.

IOP, Inc. is committed to improving the quality of life of people worldwide ….to elevating surgical performance through ideas, innovation and technology.
