of Ophthalmology, David Weissgold, M.D. and his colleagues
published a unique article detailing the surgical use of IOPatch

buckles.

This retrospective case series details four individual cases
with exposed scleral buckles after initial surgery for the
treatment of retinal detachment. The text describes surgical
methods, outcomes and provides a detailed analysis regarding
the risk of recurrent retinal detachment following removal
of exposed scleral buckles.
Dr. Weissgold is an assistant professor of Diseases and Surgery
of the Retina and Vitreous at the University of Vermont.
