IOP Inc. and Bioplate ally for distribution of Fix8™ Orbital Fixation System

COSTA MESA, California – 3 January 2006 - IOP, Inc., the premier developer and distributor of specialty surgical technologies for eye surgery, has allied with Bioplate Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) for the commercialization of the world’s first orbital-focused fixation system.

Bioplate, Inc, founded in 1995 by Dr. Tadeusz Wellisz, MD and Carol E. Jones, RN, BSN, MBA, is the global leader in the manufacture of precision-driven bone fixation systems. Their continued commitment remains to provide surgeons and patients with the highest quality bone fixation systems that are tailored specifically to their needs.

The orbital fixation system will be marketed by IOP, Inc. under the exclusive FIX 8™ tradedress. The FIX 8 orbital system is the first complete 1.5mm system of its kind. Configured specifically for orbital surgery, the system contains a focused range of unique, precision-driven plates, screws and instrumentation for rigid fixation of the orbit and surrounding anatomies.

“Our entire organization is bullishly excited about our strategic partnership with Bioplate, “ said Erich Ziegler, V.P. - Marketing/Product Development of IOP, Inc. “Teaming the manufacturing leadership of Bioplate with our dedication to and focus on the oculoplastic surgical sector is ideal. We are boundlessly optimistic about this opportunity to progress the quality of oculoplastic surgery.”

FIX 8 will be formally available for surgeon use on January 3, 2006. IOP, Inc. will showcase the FIX 8 technology at the spring ASOPRS meeting in Banff Canada – and at subsequent meeting throughout the year.
